While I was sitting in the doctor's office this morning, I passed the time by doing what most people do...checking Facebook on my phone and responding to emails. I noticed that everyone was "celebrating" Cinco de Mayo by updating their statuses. I used to mark this "holiday" with Mexican food, margaritas, and the 30-day countdown to my birthday. And then, my life changed and celebrating the Mexican holiday just wasn't that important to me. Please don't get me wrong...Tory and I tried our hardest to eat Mexican for supper tonight, but at 38 weeks pregnant standing in a long line was not worth the wait for fajitas and chips and salsa.
Today was also the National Day of Prayer. I chose to ask people through my Facebook status what I could lift up in prayer for them. I was overwhelmed by the number of responses I got in my inbox. I spent the day (and will continue to do so) lifting these requests to God. Requests from friends that I have only reconnected with on Facebook and haven't seen in years. Requests that touched my heart and changed my day. Requests that allowed me to lean on God and trust that He knew these requests long before I spoke them. As I lifted these prayers up to my Savior, I became less and less focused on me and my needs and more and more focused on Him. And then something amazing happened...something that Tory and I have been praying about for the past six months was answered today. When I received the news, I had to stop what I was doing in my office and spend a moment praising Jesus for His faithfulness. His timing is always perfect! Only in His perfection would he allow me to not focus on my requests for an entire day and lift up the requests of others and then answer one of our biggest requests all in the same day. However, my day would have been just as amazing even if our prayer had not been answered today.
Is there anything that I can pray for you about tomorrow?
1 Timothy 2:1-4
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
