As someone who has suffered {dare I say, still suffers} from insecurities and self-esteem issues, the lies of the Enemy have been heard so long and so loud that they began to morph into truth. Or so I thought. As someone who avoids dressing rooms at all costs and can have quite the temper tantrum when getting dressed for work, I have had to take a long, hard look at myself and decide if I truly believe God's word.
Do I truly believe that I am wonderfully and fearfully made?
Do I truly believe that God doesn't make mistakes? And yes, this includes the size of my thighs.
Do I truly believe that the King is enthralled with my beauty? Enthralled, y'all?
I have made large strides in past few years. I've started listening more to the wise words of my sweet mama when she told me that pretty is as pretty does. And I've stopped scouring every magazine for the definition of beauty. And perfection.
But most importantly, I have decided to believe the Truth. And I desperately want this for every woman I meet.
As women, we must believe to the very depths of our souls that we have been clothed in strength and dignity. And we must walk in that beauty each and every day. There are girls and young women {like my nieces and daughter} that are counting on us to pave a different road, forge a new path for them to follow. We must {absolute must} show them that true beauty is not defined by the world's view. Nor is it defined as our reflection in the mirror. True beauty is found in a woman who can boldy and unashamedly proclaim who Christ is in her life.
Show me a woman who stands on the Word and shouts to everyone who will listen that Jesus saves. Point me in the direction of a woman who is chasing Jesus as fast and furiously as she can. And I will tell you that I have met the most beautiful woman in the world.
Grab your shovels girls. Pull on those work boots. And let's get to paving the way for the girls following in our footsteps.
You are so lovely. Both inside and out. No pair of jeans or boots or scarf can tell you any different. You were created in the image of Christ. And that my lovely, is beautiful!
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
Psalm 139: 13-18
