five minute friday: loud

On Five Minute Fridays, we link up with The Gypsy Mama and write for five minutes flat. No editing, no spell-check, no over-analyzing of words, just pure writing from the heart. Join us?

GO.

Sometimes, despite how hard we try to shut it out, the world creeps in and tries to tell us that our life is not good enough.  A small, seemingly innocent comment from someone close, can spark a fire in our souls that takes days to extinguish.

Sometimes, a seemingly innocent question, can be perceived as judgment and that makes the fire burn hotter.  Louder.

But somehow, through the fire, through the attack that the Enemy hopes to destroy us.  Destroy the ground that we have walked and left behind.  A small, quiet voice starts to get louder and louder and louder.

It starts so quiet that we aren't sure we heard correctly.  Could that be?  Did we hear right?  That seems to go against what everyone else is doing.

But it gets louder.  So loud that it can't be mistaken.  Yes.  It is Jesus.  Whispering so loud in our hearts that we know only He has the answer.  And He quiets the comments and questions that have wreaked havoc on our souls.  He extinquishes the fire that the Enemy ignited in our hearts.

And there is only this.  Contentment.  We can leave this world content in Jesus.

"Actually, I don't have a sense of needing anything personally.
I've learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances.
I'm just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little.
I've found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry,
hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am,
I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.'
Philippians 4:12 (The Message)

I choose to leave the world behind.  I choose Jesus.  I choose true contentment.  And that speaks louder to my soul than the things of this world.
