"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people."
~Colossians 3:23 (NLT)
"Be glad you can do the things you should be doing. Do all things without arguing and talking about how you wish you did not have to do them. In that way, you can prove yourselves to be without blame. You are God’s children and no one can talk against you, even in a sin-loving and sin-sick world. You are to shine as lights among the sinful people of this world." ~Philippians 2:14-15 (NLV)
Sometimes, when you find yourself on repeat, irritation creeps in and robs you of a little joy. That's where I found myself the past few weeks. Sure, there were glimpses of joy...like when I would look in my daughter's face or hear her cooing with her Daddy in the other room or celebrating Victor's 9th birthday (9, y'all, 9!), but still I was robbed of some joy because I allowed irritation to take its place.
Then, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart over the course of several days...through song, through Scripture, through devotions. And here is what I have learned...
As long as I do everything...and I do mean everything...as if I am working for the Lord then I bring Him glory. Cleaning toilets, washing bottles, doing laundry, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, going to work...while it seems mundane and bothersome and boring..can bring the most joy when you do it all as if working for the Lord.
At the end of the day, I want everything I have done to bring a smile to His face....and maybe somewhere in the process I've helped share the story of Grace.
