How in the world has it been two months since I gave birth to my sweet girl? Does time really speed up once you become a parent?
Sweet Petite has changed so much in the past month. She is "talking" and laughing! I love our early morning conversations. I already have visions of report card comments, like "talks too much" or "needs to listen more". Heaven help her, she was born to be a talker...it's in her blood. She has found her hands and loves to stick them in her mouth. She is determined to be a thumb sucker and I am determined for her NOT to be a thumb sucker. After all, I can take a paci away, but I can't take away her thumb. She discovered her tongue a couple of weeks ago. She sticks it in and out quickly and rolls it around. She thinks this is great entertainment. She loves to stand on our laps and look around. She is very inquisitive! Another trait that she gets honest....I was nicknamed Curious George by a family friend, Don Worrell, long ago. It was a nice way of calling me nosy! I fear Sweet Petite is a bit on the nosy side, too. She boycotts her naps for fear she will miss something...which could only be mama's quick minute to clean the house, take a shower, wash bottles or something equally interesting, I'm sure.
Sweet Petite is a creature of habit, just like her mama. She does not like to veer far from her nighttime routine. She gets comfy in her jammies, has her last bottle, we read "Goodnight Moon", we rock and sing "Jesus Loves Me", we say our bedtime prayers, and then we turn out the lights and rock until she is safely in dreamland. And she sleeps through the night...HOLLA! She is asleep by 11pm and wakes up between 6am and 7am. We recently went to the beach for a few days and she wanted desperately to wake up at 6 every morning, but I made the mistake of putting her in the bed with me so we could catch a few more minutes of shut-eye. Apparently she likes this "routine" because she thinks it needs to continue at home. Hmmm....we need to break this up now before it becomes a habit!
I am having a hard time watching Sweet Petite grow up so fast! I always heard my friends say they wish they could stop the clock because their kids were growing up too fast, but now I completely understand that statement. Time seems to be moving a warp speed. I am doing my very best to keep up with Sweet Petite's milestones and how quickly she is changing. I am still keeping a journal for her...I started this before I was pregnant and continue to write to her on a weekly basis.
And how in the world is it possible to love someone beyond measure on the day they are born and then love them more and more each day that passes by? I love Sweet Petite more than I will ever be able to articulate. There are days that I look at her and my eyes fill with tears because I am full of love for this sweet girl...my daughter has completely captivated my heart...she holds it for ransom and the ransom gets higher and higher every second of every day.
